Historical background

At the beginning of the years 2000, a few runners germinated the idea for organizing a running race on the slope connecting the Baths of Saillon to the Baths of Ovronnaz. The course would also cross the local vineyards and borrow the already famous footbridge of Farinet that crosses the gorge of Salentze.

This course being difficult, this idea initially only allured the senior and confirmed runners who lived in the area.

Then Alain and Chantal Dällenbach, together with Stephan Schweickhardt and Dominique Crettenand, decided to create the association Le Running Club des deux Rives (the 2 Watersides Running Club) having for main goal to transform the idea into a traditional mountain running race.

Editions 2004 and 2005 encountered so much success, that the association Le Running Club des deux Rives took up the challenge to organize two international competitions one after the other, namely: the World Maters Championships in 2006 and the Elite World Trophy Championships in 2007.

The race - called Course des 2 Bains - has also been selected as one of the six international trials of the WMRA Grand Prix series.

The initiators increased the circle of members and did not only convert the idea into a wonderful traditional course, but also into a recognized event, thus carrying out the goal of the association in its entirety.
